EYE CANDY COMMISSION CALL OUT

EYE CANDY COMMISSION CALL OUT

Eye Candy 2016 is open for business and we have LOTS of opportunities for artists to get involved in this year’s event for a whole host of exciting new pieces of work.

ABOUT EYE CANDY – A visual pop culture happening
Selecting exhibitors, speakers and designers from across the globe Eye Candy showcases illustration, art and design through a program of events (exhibitions, expo, meet-ups, interventions), a talks program (with industry heavyweights) and workshops (zine making, screen printing, etc).

WHERE –
The event takes place at venues throughout central Birmingham, UK.

WHEN –
Mid September to early October, 2016

COMMISSIONS

We’re looking to commission exciting work that spreads across a range of disciplines.
In the past we’ve had a mobile cinema screening films and animations, a culture cart operating a mobile print shop, a zine fest, outdoor works on walls, works with light projectors and installations with cardboard boxes. We’ve commissioned solo artists, duos and collectives from across the globe.

This year we’re looking for more high-quality, unique works that can do some of the following:
-Engage audiences
-Get people talking and cause a buzz
-Make people want to join in / take part
-That are scale-able

WORKSHOPS

We’d like to commission several artists to host a range of workshops over the weekend under our new Coffee & Candy event. A venue would be allocate to fit with the workshop output.
We’re looking for imaginative and engaging learning that is fun and would work across a range of ages. Workshops must be art related but we’re open to drawing, photography, printing, making, crafts and design. Workshops need to be safe, easy to install and produce, available to the public and self-contained.

ILLUSTRATION & ART FAIR – Saturday 1st October

We’re hosting an illustration and art fair at a central location in Birmingham and we’re looking for people to come along and sell their work. Stalls will be FREE and we won’t take any commission – we just want to offer visitors the chance to purchase some great work. We’re happy to work with solo artists and collectives.
