REBELLIOUS SELF-EXPRESSION

For anyone who has owned a beloved pair of Dr. Martens it is probably because your fashion and musical leanings were taking you to that leftfield place bordering the alternative. When you went to school with your heavy-weighted boots and tried to act cool because you thought you were the first to discover a band that wore them as part of the ‘uniform’ of the cool, different, free-thinking persona it felt like a firm style statement of intent.

The boots had transitioned from regular workwear and became part of youth subculture ensuring their place in history thanks to icons of the day choosing to wear them. To celebrate 55 years of the iconic footwear a book has been released collating images (many previously unseen) featuring both street-style and musicians who favoured Dr. Martens.
