The Siam Atrium

Set in the Grand Palace area of the city, within a three-acre spot on the Chao Phraya River, The Siam is far away enough from the skyscrapers, hustle, and noise (the loudest thing you will hear is the occasional hum of a riverboat engine) of the metropolis to make this an ideal getaway.

Celebrating five years as one of the Bangkok’s most luxurious places to stay (and the only place in the city where you can book a stay in a pool villa) The Siam is owned by the multi-talented Sukosol Family. Dubbed the ‘musical hoteliers’ of Thailand (made up of Jazz singers, record label owners and pop stars) it was Krissada Sukosol Clapp’s vision that was realised by architect Bill Bensley. For the multiaward winning actor and singer, The Siam is his lifelong dream come true and the perfect venue to showcase his beloved antique collection.

The Vinyl Room

His endless ornaments, antiquities and curios fill shelves, walls and cabinets in hallways, communal rooms and the suites themselves. You could never get bored at The Siam; Bensley has given Krissada’s extensive collection a beautiful home to be viewed by all those that come to stay. There’s a screening room to watch fi lms (choose the blockbusters your want) with vintage fi lm lights and a life-size ET; the Opium Spa for luxurious treatments; a vinyl room where are can play records from decades gone by; or the library where you can read while surrounded by military costumes. When it’s time to eat you can try the Pier Tasting dinner where Executive Chef Damri Muksombat serves up home-cooked Thai delicacies that are beautifully presented and totally delicious.

A stunning indoor atrium houses a large water feature and palms that sit under a glass roof acting as a centerpiece for the Main Residence. A subtle art deco style runs throughout; Black and White is complemented by green landscaping with traditional Thai heritage stylings. The luxurious suites have high ceilings, a palatial bathroom, and lots of space with plenty to give design lovers something to ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ over. If you do want to leave the hotel for a spot of sightseeing then your Butler can arrange all kinds of Bangkok fun, and just in case you get lost, your resort smartphone will guide you back. Of course, there is no better way of seeing a city like Bangkok than by taking The Siam’s own boat for a leisurely sunset river cruise.
