It’s close enough to reach the city’s biggest attractions in minutes, yet far enough away to feel noticeably calmer. With contemporary interiors, generous suites and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s a hotel that encourages you to slow the pace without sacrificing the excitement of a Vegas break.
Spacious Suites Designed For Living
Our roomy suite in the Ruby Tower immediately felt more like a modern apartment than a standard hotel room. A generous entrance hall with wardrobes and a dressing table provides a place to store luggage neatly out of sight, a surprisingly practical feature that keeps the suite uncluttered throughout the stay.
The décor is contemporary without becoming clinical. Clean lines, bold artwork and playful lighting create an environment that feels stylish and creative, while colourful design details prevent it from ever feeling anonymous.
The living area is anchored by two oversized burnt-orange sofas that invite you to stretch out after a day of exploring the city. A striking double-sided screen subtly divides the suite into separate living and sleeping spaces, giving it a natural flow while maintaining an open-plan feel.
Artwork is thoughtfully scattered throughout, adding character and reinforcing the hotel’s modern aesthetic, while the sculptural lighting creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere once evening arrives.
The bathroom is equally impressive, with plenty of space to unwind. Alongside a large walk-in shower, the deep soaking bath is perfect for easing tired legs after long days walking the Strip.
Resort Living Around The Pool
The pool complex is another highlight. Large enough to avoid feeling crowded, it offers plenty of loungers without guests competing for space first thing in the morning. Palm trees, comfortable seating and a relaxed atmosphere make it easy to spend an afternoon here before venturing back into the city later in the day.
Unlike some of the Strip’s louder day clubs, the atmosphere is refreshingly laid back, making it just as appealing for couples looking to relax as it is for groups enjoying a weekend away.
Dining Highlights
Food is another area where Virgin Hotels stands out. The hotel’s Mexican restaurant ‘Lucia Grille’ proved to be one of our favourite dining experiences during the stay, serving vibrant dishes packed with fresh flavours in a lively yet stylish setting. Pop in here during the afternoon, and you’ll be rewarded with happy hour prices ($4 beers and half price Margaritas) for some drink choices before you make a commitment to a full evening meal.
Breakfast also deserves a mention. Rather than overwhelming guests with an enormous buffet The Kitchen offers a smaller selection. The result is a relaxed start to the day with quality taking precedence over quantity, making it a refreshing alternative to the oversized buffets synonymous with Las Vegas.
A Different Perspective On Las Vegas
One of the pleasures of staying at Virgin Hotels is its location. Being just off the Strip gives the hotel a quieter atmosphere while still keeping the city’s biggest attractions within easy reach by taxi or rideshare. From higher floors, the views stretch across the Las Vegas Valley, offering a reminder of the vast desert landscape surrounding the city rather than simply another view of neon lights.
For those willing to venture a little further, the surrounding neighbourhood offers a glimpse of a very different side of Las Vegas. A ten-minute wander from the hotel takes you past old-school diners, fast food joints and one of our favourite rediscoveries, The Double Down Saloon (pictured below).
Stepping through the doors in broad daylight feels like walking onto the set of a Hollywood movie. Every dive bar cliché you’ve ever seen on screen is here, from the graffiti-covered walls and well-worn booths to the jukebox and eclectic mix of regulars. The difference is that this isn’t a film set. It’s gloriously authentic.
It’s the kind of place where locals and visitors rub shoulders over cheap beers and live music, providing a refreshing contrast to the polished cocktail lounges and glitzy casino bars of the Strip. Spending an hour here is a reminder that some of Las Vegas’ most memorable experiences happen well away from the neon lights.

Virgin Hotels Las Vegas feels like a hotel designed for travellers who want the excitement of Vegas without being immersed in it every minute of the day.
The spacious suites, contemporary design and relaxed atmosphere combine to create a property that feels distinctly different from many of its neighbours. Add in an excellent pool, strong dining options and an off-Strip location that offers both convenience and breathing space, and it’s easy to see why the hotel has developed such a loyal following.
For travellers seeking a more design-led, spacious and laid-back base from which to explore Las Vegas, Virgin Hotels proves that sometimes stepping just beyond the Strip can lead to one of the city’s most rewarding stays.
