Rostarr is transforming the façade of Potato Head Beach Club in Seminyak with a monumental mural inspired by Bali’s culture, landscape and cycles of change.
Potato Head Beach Club in Seminyak is being wrapped in a large-scale mural by visual artist Rostarr, turning the building’s façade into a shifting composition of colour, texture and abstract calligraphy.
Titled Evolving Landscapes, the work stretches across the entire exterior of the Beach Club and is being created on site over several weeks. Visitors will be able to watch the mural develop in real time as Rostarr builds up its layered surfaces and flowing forms with the finished artwork remaining in place for 12 months.
Rostarr’s design moves from left to right through changes in colour and texture, using transformation as both subject and structure. The mural reflects the changing environment of Bali alongside the island’s evolving cultural and creative identity, while considering the relationship between natural and artificial worlds.
“For my upcoming mural at Potato Head Beach Club, I’m seeking inspiration from the vivid culture and people of Bali, incorporating gods and deities, traditional dancers, and sun and sea worshippers,” says Rostarr. “I hope to represent these iconic images through my abstract calligraphic style to create a mural of epic proportions.”
The project follows other large-scale interventions by the artist, including Rostarr’s poolside artwork at The Standard, Hua Hin, where an abstract composition extends across the area surrounding the hotel’s swimming pool.
The mural continues Potato Head’s wider focus on art, design and environmental responsibility. Desa Potato Head Bali, its Creative Village in Seminyak, was designed by OMA and Andra Matin and brings together 225 suites and studios with restaurants, cultural spaces, sculpture gardens, an outdoor amphitheatre, a beach club and an underground nightclub.
By treating the façade as an evolving public artwork rather than a fixed architectural surface, Evolving Landscapes gives visitors a direct view of the creative process. It places ideas of renewal, movement and environmental change across one of Potato Head’s most recognisable structures.
