EYE CATCHING ‘HOTEL LONE’ CROATIA

Since it’s opening in the summer of 2011, the Croatian Hotel Lone represents a place that truly inspires. It is an eye-catching modern building located next to a centuries-old forest park in a sparkling bay, only a short stroll from the picturesque Istrian town of Rovinj.

As a member of the DESIGN HOTEL portfolio, the Lone has a distinctive design concept that skilfully combines cultural heritage with local contemporary art and design. It would be correct to say that the design is a perfect showcase of contemporary Croatian creative expression, as everything in this hotel was created by the best regional architects, designers and contemporary artists.

Hotel Lone was designed as a contemporary expression of the classic Croatian hotel from the 1970s, with sea-facing terraces and large lobbies. A unique collaboration between Croatian designers and artists, the hotel was designed by architectural studio 3LHD, who worked with designers Numen For Use to decorate the interiors and design bespoke furniture solutions.

Hotel Lone’s interiors are based on the theme of contrast, with fabric used as the connecting element. This varies from a thin ‘veil’ in the restaurant separating operational and seating areas; to decorative murals in the lobby and dynamic wall features inspired by Istrian frescoes found in the guest-rooms.

Colours and materials in the 248 spacious rooms are more muted with warmer, darker fabrics, utilising Slavonian oak wood, and terrazzo. All rooms, including the 11 suites and one presidential suite of 129 square metres, have either sea views or views onto the Golden Cape Forest Park, with balconies featuring laminated mirrors placed alternately on side walls to reflect light and an image of the surrounding forest. Bathrooms are separated from the room by tinted glass walls, allowing penetration of natural light.

The restaurants and bars of Hotel Lone uphold the gastronomic standards established by sister property Hotel Monte Mulini, offering a mixture of traditional Croatian and Mediterranean fusian-style food, as well as a wine list including many vintages from the surrounding region of Istria.

Hotel Lone’s unique vision and imagination is reflected in its signature restaurant – ResoLution. Here the contemporary creativity of the hotel itself fully comes to life. In the attractive restaurant hall and beautiful garden, chef Radovan Blagic prepares food that inspires made with fresh local ingredients. The menu is simple, yet complex in taste.

Since 2017, the Lone Hotel has held RevoLution cooking classes in a demo kitchen, promoting healthy eating as part of its ResoLution concept. The goal is to make healthy food more accessible to guests and promote the benefits of a healthy diet, a lifestyle trend of global popularity. There are currently two types of classes on the topic of a well thought-out diet, healthy cooking and basic cooking skills. Each class weaves nutrition information into the practical cookery part and uses real food examples to help showing the benefit of cooking with raw fresh ingredients from scratch.

A natural extension of Hotel Lone’s spacious outdoor living areas, the Lone Bay beach provides a scenic spot in which to relax and sunbathe. Within walking distance is the Mulini Beach club, offering guests complimentary use of designer sun loungers and towels, as well as a waterfront open-air cocktail lounge. Finally, one of Hotel Lone’s main attractions is its Spa. Covering an area of 1,700 square metres, the spa at Lone features a scented steam sauna, Finnish sauna and infrared sauna; gym, relaxation area, indoor fresh- water pool with special hydro-massage effects; nail spa; and two connected “sunken” rooms, offering the opportunity to float and relax on hydro massage seats. There are eight multi-function treatment rooms, some of which have glass walls with views of the surrounding forest park.
