HART SHOREDITCH: A STYLISH DESIGN HOTEL IN LONDON’S EAST-END

While we’ve been discouraged from touching things over the last few years it’s hard to keep your hands in your pockets when you visit Hart Shoreditch; with a mix of lush materials that just call for out for a feel. The hotel design is inspired by the textile warehouses of days gone by which were in abundance in this well-loved London suburb.

Located just a convenient 5-minute walk from Old Street Station and Shoreditch overground, the hotel offers an ideal base in which to explore all of London’s hip East End hotspots and is a unique celebration of the area’s independent spirit of craftspeople and makers.

On check in guests are met with craftsmanship and design, with the reception desk’s unique copper detailing hammered into the desk, harking back to the metal workers of Victorian Shoreditch.

Concrete mixes with light wood, which mixes with shiny gold and smooth marble, which is all surrounded by cool neutral furnishings – it calls out for the softest of touches. This translates into a mix of light Scandinavian influences of natural light oak flooring, grey concrete accents on the walls (some of which is cleverly disguised wallpaper), black and gold accessories and crisp white sheets.

Working with the acclaimed East London design outfit; Fabled Studio who have conceived a unique and subtle design that is deeply rooted in showcasing the historic London industries ubiquitous with the neighbourhood tat includes furniture makers, metal works and silk weavers. These subtle nods to the past blend seamlessly within the surroundings of modern-day Shoreditch, creating a warm welcome for those seeking a hip new stomping ground in the Big Smoke.

The hotel’s bright and airy lobby is the perfect spot to bring local creatives together with its contemporary co-working space, featuring crafted dark mahogany lights designed to replicate cabinetmaker’s boxes in homage to the area’s rich carpentry past.

Like one of those well disguised cool indie record labels that’s actually owned by a big corporate; the Hart is a Hilton Curio Collection that takes in its surroundings and considers the style and attitude of the neighbourhood and remixes it into a standalone, not to be replicated offer. This is also interpreted by the staff who are light-touch, friendly and easy going with plenty of great tips on offer if you’re looking for a meal or good cocktail.

Guests of Hart Shoreditch can relax in one of the 126 elegant rooms or suites, which each offer an imaginative and sophisticated space with large floor to ceiling windows with London views. Those looking to unwind can do so in the luxurious marble showers and bathtubs in a warm, urban space.

Our King Superior Corner Room is light and spacious and takes in views of the neighbourhood. The room features a huge king-sized bed and the stylish large bathroom includes a marble walk-in shower with gold fittings and concrete twin sinks. A Nespresso® machine, bathrobes and slippers give you plenty of reasons to take a well-earned break after a hard days shopping around the area.

Breakfast is taken in the Eastern Mediterranean restaurant Barboun which is inspired by Levantine and offers freshly prepared dishes cooked over the wood fire and grill. Crushed avocado with toasted pumpkin seeds and perfect poached eggs kept us fuelled for the morning but we couldn’t quite resist ordering the Turkish sesame bagel with honeycomb and creamy kaymak which was a great choice.

Hart Shoreditch is perfectly placed and quite literally in the ‘heart’ of the neighbourhood. There’s plenty to keep you entertained with Brick Lane, Kings Cross, Spitalfields and Redchurch Street just a few minutes walk away.

On your return from exploring, the hotel’s lobby area is a great place to order a cocktail. Tavla is a little cosy corner of the ground floor that offers a focus on emerging talent, vinyl DJs, and the chance to play a game of backgammon (if we only knew how) while enjoying one of the bar’s barrel-aged cocktails.

Nightly rates at Hart Shoreditch start from £189 on a room-only basis. For more information or to book please visit www.hartshoreditch.com or call +44 (0) 20 3995 3655
