BREEZE ART + MAKERS FAIR

This autumn Breeze Art and Makers Fair will bring an array of over 50 current artists together under the grandiose roof of 18th Century manor, Trereife House, in Penzance, Cornwall, on the 13-15th September.

Set over three days, the eclectic fair is a celebration of unique craft from a specially selected collection of artists from around the South West and this year the Breeze Fair promises to highlight even more exceptional heritage and modern crafts through a well-considered programme of new and fascinating exhibitions, workshops, engaging talks and demonstrations.

Trereife House provides a calming and relaxing location for Cornwall’s leading art and makers fair, which adds to the viewing pleasure of the works around the grounds and within the 18th Century property. Visitors will be able to explore the work of over 50 selected artists and makers and also be inspired by exhibitions from invited leading South West art galleries and associations.

Breeze Fair coincides with the release of Anya Rice and Katherine Sorrell’s new book ‘Make:Cornwall’  which profiles and celebrates 25 modern craftspeople in the South West. Author Katherine will curate a new exhibition named ‘Make:Cornwall’ which will showcase a trendsetting selection of contemporary craftspeople from the county.

Claire Buckley will also curate a new exhibition ‘Textile Treasure’ a hunt encouraging visitors in and around the sumptuous Trereife House to appreciate and admire textiles crafted over the years.

The Breeze education area will be thriving with 13 exhibitors showcasing ‘Living Craft’, from pottery to steel fabrication offering visitors an insight into the creation, construction and practice of these modern skills.

Outside in the park of the manor house the front door will open out onto the Parterre and formal gardens where visitors will be able to wander through the summer blooms and walled gardens and view artists sculpture and picnic on the lawns.

Visitors can relax and soak up the Breeze Art and Makers Fair whilst pondering on any potential purchases over a Cornish artisan gin or Prosecco and snacking on local food from handpicked suppliers such as Secret Spot Hospitality Horsebox, Kernoforno Pizzas, Cecil on Ice, The Cornish Larder and more.

Breeze Art and Makers Fair supporting Director Samme Charlesworth with Curator Miranda Leonard are both enthusiastic about British Contemporary Craft and Cornwall’s vibrant designers, artists, crafters and sculptures as well bringing the most discerning set of quality makers to the fore.

Samme says “We are thrilled to invite the artists, exhibitors and galleries back to the beautiful Trereife House this September. This year we have created an event that highlights the cultural importance of art and craft, and showcasing the skills, practice and knowledge that is needed to create such wonderful heritage crafts. Every year we endeavor to build upon previous shows successes and create both a visually exciting and deeply educational event for visitors and exhibitors. We have a whole new fascinating programme of workshops and talks that attendees can drop into on the day. Trereife House is a charming location and the specially curated exhibitions will have the guests wander through the house, ground and gardens, enthralled by the great art and craft.”
