THE OTHER ART FAIR

THE OTHER ART FAIR

The Other Art Fair will celebrate its 30th edition by taking over two Central London locations for the first time since its launch in 2011.

October 2018 will see the Fair return to the historic Victoria House in Bloomsbury, and, just across the road, the second location will also offer an exciting new programme at The College at Old Central St Martins on Southampton Row.

Visitors will be greeted by a playful, psychedelic entrance installation by coveted artist Hattie Stewart in her signature doodlebombing style. Alongside a host of interactive performances, both locations offer free kids activities, live music, a superb restaurant and bar – guaranteeing a unique and immersive experience.

THE OTHER ART FAIR

This year the Guest Artists are The Connor Brothers who will be creating a series of prints and two installations exploring men’s mental health in collaboration with mental health charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). Previous Guest Artists include Tracey Emin, Gavin Turk, Martin Parr, Polly Morgan and Ben Eine.

Featuring sculpture, works on paper, photography and painting, the 140 contemporary artists have been handpicked by a respected selection committee including Cob Gallery co-founder and director Victoria Williams, arts broadcaster Kate Bryan, internationally renowned curator Emma Dean and British artist Abigail Lane.

With its distinguished committee of experts and guest curators, The Other Art Fair has established itself as the fair of choice for London’s emerging collectors. Over 60% of clients at The Other Art Fair London 2016 edition were first time buyers. In keeping with its position as both progressive and accessible, The Other Art Fair is affiliated with the Arts Council’s ‘Own Art’ initiative. This initiative allows buyers to spread the cost of a purchase over 10 months with an interest free loan, enabling more art lovers to become collectors.

Founder of The Other Art Fair, Ryan Stanier, comments: “The whole idea is to unite emerging talent with emerging buyers. We search for new artists and provide a platform for their work and enable art lovers to actually become collectors. We are devoted to nurturing this relationship.”

Highlights of the October 2018 London programme include:

Assembling 140 artists from across the globe including Hattie Stewart, Kristjana Williams, Samira Addo, Sarah Maple, Steve McPherson, Elle Kaye, Charlie Oscar Patterson, Michelle Loa Kum Cheung, Oliver Martyn, Jessica Albarn, and Elisa Insua.

London-based artist and illustrator Hattie Stewart, best known for her tongue-in-cheek artwork, will be creating an exclusive entrance installation for the fair.

Femme Fatale Tattoo Studio will create a pop-up hand poke tattoo studio onsite at the fair. Created one year ago by Grace Neutral with the vision of creating a safe place for all to get tattooed in, the collective has since grown to be trailblazers in a particularly male dominated industry.

Guest artists, The Connor Brothers will be showcasing a series of prints and an interactive project in collaboration with men’s mental health charity, CALM.

The Print Swap offers the opportunity for photographers to collect carefully curated prints and engage with other photographers around the globe.

Soho Radio will curate the music programme throughout the weekend, presenting an eclectic line-up of music inspired by the city’s vibrant and diverse culture, as well as immersive art projects converging art, technology and music. One of these projects will include exclusive artwork created especially for The Other Art Fair October 2018, alongside a special piece of music by Soho Radio DJ and visual artist, Justin Robertson.

Farmstand Restaurant Pop Up – Founded in January 2016 in London, Farmstand Restaurant will host a pop up at the fair. Offering international recipes sourced from UK-based sustainable suppliers, they use simple, mostly plant-based ingredients and absolutely nothing artificial.
